Daniel de Córdoba Founder / Artistic Director
|

A native Texan, Daniel de Córdoba returned to his home state in 1992 and founded
the Daniel de Córdoba Bailes Españoles Company. De Córdoba’s
early training included ballet, jazz and Spanish and Flamenco dance in the US, Mexico and
Spain. His professional career spans the globe from concert halls in Europe to the
Broadway stage. In Spain he worked with leading dance companies including Antonio
Ruiz, Roberto Iglesias, Mario Maya and Carmen Mora and Jose Greco. Daniel was partner
and a protégé of Mariquita Flores. He has received numerous grants and
recognition from the United States, Mexico, Korea and Spain. In Dallas, Daniel directs
the company and teaches flamenco.

Mari Paz Flamenco Dancer
|
|
|
Born in Madrid, Spain, Mari Paz is an accomplished artist with dramatic expression.
She has studied with Nino Gonzalez, Thomas de Madrid, La Tati, Ciro, Conté de Loyo and
Daniel de Córdoba. One of the featured artists and founding members of the
company, she works extensively with Daniel in the many outreach programs for school children.

Luisita Sevilla Flamenco Dancer
|
|
Born in Sevilla, Spain, Luisita began her studies under the famous teacher Realito.
She has toured Spain and Europe with the renowned company “Danzas y Coros de
España”. Like Mari Paz, she is one of the founding members of the
Bailes Españoles Company as well and works in the outreach programs. In
addition to her delightful stage performances, Luisita is also the company’s
costume designer.

Susana Santiago Flamenco Dancer
|
|
|
From Toledo, Spain, and raised in Switzerland, Susana began her dance studies at an
early age at the “Ballet Academy of Lausanne”. She studied Spanish
Classical and Flamenco dance with Paquita Romero and toured Switzerland, France and
Italy with the Bailes Españoles de Vevey. She has been with Daniel de
Códoba since 1994 and is a featured artist. Her beauty, gracefulness and
dramatic flair have won her acclaim in Daniel de Córdoba’s Spanish ballet
productions, “Carmen”, “El Amor Brujo” and “El Sombrero
de Tres Picos”.

Tania Malagón de Hoyle Flamenco Dancer
|
|
Born in Tabasco, Mexico, Tania began her training at age 5 at the “Casa de
Artes Jose Gonzalez”. She studied and performed Flamenco with Hida Galan
and later with the flamenco group, ITESM under the direction of Placido Salas.
She joined the Daniel de Córdoba Bailes Españoles in 1997 and is one of
the featured soloists. Her razor sharp technique, talent and charm make her one
of the most promising artists of the company.

Mari Carmen Cantaora
|
|
|
Born in Sevilla, Spain, Mari Carmen began singing as a child. She has sung in
festivals, theatres and hotels throughout Spain and Europe as well as making several
recordings. She joined the Daniel de Córdoba Bailes Españoles in
1994 and has been featured in all the company’s major productions.

Victor Garza Guitarist
|
|
Born in Miguel Aleman, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Victor has been involved with Flamenco for over
13 years. He has studied with guitarists Carlos Sánchez and El Tiburon (de
San Antonio), as well as others. He has been with the Daniel de Córdoba troupe
for six years. His personality and talent make him a great attribute to the company.
